HOPE + DOOR

hope+door is a nonprofit organization that is committed to helping families avoid homelessness.  For a family that rents, the risk of eviction and eventual homelessness is often due to no fault of their own: an accident, a medical emergency, crime, a pandemic related job loss, etc.  The economic, social, and emotional consequences of eviction are far-reaching, especially for the children involved.

When financial emergencies happen and a family gets behind on rent, hope+door steps in to fill the gap. By providing one-time relief grants to be applied directly to rent, hope+door provides stability for families with children while they navigate a crisis.  The team at hope+door works directly with landlords to ensure that grant recipients get back on track with rent, all while remaining in the home they have come to know and love.  We believe housing stability is a key factor in upward mobility for children. hope+door envisions a bright and prosperous future for families and children without the worry of housing in security and homelessness: hopeandoor

PENN MEDICINE -

The Community Partnerships for Wellness program at Penn Medicine is closing gaps in access to health care by bringing pre-participation physicals to middle and high schools in underserved neighbourhoods to help ensure students can participate in youth sports, clubs, and other extracurricular activities at school.

Access to required physicals supports school attendance and engagement in extracurricular activities, helps to reduce violence, and catches sports injuries before they worsen to prevent long term impacts on a student’s athletic career.

GANTRY GROUP

Gantry Group is dedicated to improving the college persistence rate of low-income first-generation students–primarily from NYC–and preparing these students for careers that increase their economic and social mobility.

Our model is built around durable relationships and end-to-end support for students. We make sure that students get to campus with the supplies, funding, and advising they need for a successful semester, then follow with structured support, including advising and tutoring, and a four-year program focused on career success. Over time, our students build up their own capacities to successfully traverse the educational landscape.

Gantry Group’s programs are rigorous efforts to upend the dire college success statistics for students like ours.

GOOD SPORTS

Good Sports is a national nonprofit driving equitable access in youth sports and physical activity by providing new equipment, apparel and footwear from sporting goods manufacturers to high-need communities. The cost to play sports keeps many children on the sidelines and prevents them from developing their physical, mental, social and emotional health. Together, The Player Foundation and Good Sports are creating opportunity for children to experience the lifelong benefits of active play by donating new equipment to youth organizations in need!

Ongoing Projects

EPISCOPAL COMMUNITY SERVICES
OUT OF SCHOOL TIME PROGRAM

Episcopal Community Services offers a highly regarded ‘Out of School Time’ (OST) program for hundreds of young people in six schools across Philadelphia.

The schools are located in vibrant, close-knit communities, but they are not without their struggles. Poverty and unemployment rates are high, as are the temptations of drugs and other negative behaviors.

Their goal is to “Enrich Education” and provide a safe, constructive environment when school is out and parents or grandparents are unable to care for the children.

The after-school and summer camp activities include academic support, cultural enrichment, and healthy recreation to help their kids thrive.

Seeing children succeed in school is critical to their mission of “Challenging Intergenerational Poverty.”
